Ingredients

Scale

For the Warm Boursin Dip:

  • One 5.2 oz (150g) wheel of Garlic & Fine Herbs Boursin Cheese
  • 8 oz (226g) full-fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup (113g) low-moisture, part-skim shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup (50g) freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup (55g) full-fat mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons dry white wine (Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio), optional
  • 1 clove garlic, minced or pressed
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, or to taste

For the Homemade Crostini:

  • 1 baguette, sliced into ½-inch thick rounds
  • 34 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, for brushing
  • Fine sea salt, for seasoning
  • Freshly ground black pepper, for seasoning
  • Optional: garlic powder or dried Italian herbs, for extra flavor

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and position a rack in the middle of the oven to ensure even heat circulation.
  2. Prepare the Baguette: Slice the baguette on a slight diagonal into ½-inch thick rounds to maximize surface area for dipping, enhancing the crostini’s crispiness.
  3. Season and Toast the Crostini: Arrange the baguette slices in a single layer on a baking sheet. Lightly brush both sides with extra virgin olive oil. Sprinkle the tops with fine sea salt, freshly ground black pepper, and optional garlic powder or Italian herbs for added flavor.
  4. Bake the Crostini: Bake for 10-15 minutes, flipping the slices halfway through. The crostini are done when they’re golden brown and crisp. Remove and set aside to cool; they’ll harden further as they cool.
  5. Prepare the Baking Dish: Lightly grease a small 1-quart oven-safe baking dish, pie plate, or cast-iron skillet. Keep the oven at 375°F (190°C).
  6. Combine Cream Cheese and Boursin: In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with the entire Boursin wheel until smooth using a hand mixer or spatula. Properly softened cream cheese ensures a lump-free base.
  7. Add Remaining Dip Ingredients: Fold in half of the shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, mayonnaise, white wine (if using), minced garlic, and black pepper. Mix gently until all ingredients are homogeneously combined.
  8. Assemble the Dip: Transfer the cheese mixture to the greased baking dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle the remaining shredded mozzarella on top for a cheesy crust.
  9. Bake the Dip: Place the baking dish on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until the dip is hot throughout, bubbly at the edges, and the mozzarella topping is melted with light golden spots.
  10. Rest and Serve: Remove from oven and allow the dip to rest for 5-10 minutes to thicken slightly for optimal dipping consistency. Serve warm with the freshly toasted crostini.

Notes

  • Using room-temperature cream cheese is key to avoiding lumps in the dip.
  • If you prefer, substitute the white wine with milk or chicken broth, though wine adds a nice acidity.
  • Make crostini a few hours ahead; store in an airtight container once cooled to maintain crispness.
  • For the best melting texture, shred your mozzarella from a block rather than using pre-shredded.
  • This dip pairs wonderfully with fresh vegetables or crackers as alternatives to crostini.
