A comforting and easy slow cooker recipe featuring tender shredded beef combined with savory broth and egg noodles. Perfect for a hearty family dinner, this slow-cooked beef and noodles dish is flavorful and simple to prepare with minimal hands-on time.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef and Broth

  • 23 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 packet onion soup mix (approximately 1 oz)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste

Noodles

  • 12 oz egg noodles

Optional Garnishes

  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Season the beef: Generously season the chuck roast with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to enhance the flavor of the meat.
  2. Prepare slow cooker: Place the seasoned beef chuck roast into the slow cooker. Add the beef broth, onion soup mix, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir gently to combine all ingredients evenly.
  3. Slow cook the beef: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 8 hours or on high heat for 4 to 5 hours until the beef becomes tender and easily shredded with a fork.
  4. Cook the noodles: Approximately 30 minutes before the beef finishes cooking, prepare the egg noodles separately according to the package instructions. Drain the noodles thoroughly and set them aside.
  5. Shred the beef: Using tongs or two forks, shred the cooked beef directly in the slow cooker, mixing it with the flavorful broth remaining in the pot.
  6. Combine noodles and beef: Add the cooked egg noodles to the shredded beef in the slow cooker and stir well to coat the noodles with the broth and beef mixture. Allow it to warm through for 10 to 15 minutes.
  7. Serve: Dish out the beef and noodles onto plates or bowls and garnish with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve hot and enjoy a comforting meal.

Notes

  • For more flavor, you can brown the chuck roast in a skillet before adding it to the slow cooker, though this step is optional.
  • If you prefer thicker broth, you can remove the lid of the slow cooker during the last 30 minutes of cooking to reduce the liquid.
  • Leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and can be reheated on the stovetop or microwave.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute egg noodles with gluten-free pasta.
  • Adding vegetables like mushrooms or carrots in the slow cooker can boost nutrition and flavor.
