A delicious and easy Philly Cheesesteak Tortellini Pasta combining tender beef steak, sautéed peppers and onions, cheese-filled tortellini, and melted provolone for a comforting twist on the classic sandwich flavor in a hearty pasta dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat

  • 1 lb beef steak, thinly sliced

Vegetables

  • 1 cup bell peppers, sliced (mix of red and green preferred)
  • 1 medium onion, sliced

Pasta

  • 12 oz cheese tortellini (fresh or frozen)

Cheese

  • 6 oz provolone cheese, sliced or shredded

Other

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Steak: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef steak and season with salt and pepper. Cook until just browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove steak from skillet and set aside.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add sliced peppers and onions. Cook over medium heat until softened and slightly caramelized, about 5-6 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook Tortellini: While vegetables are cooking, bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Add the cheese tortellini and cook according to package directions until al dente, usually 3-5 minutes. Drain the tortellini thoroughly.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the sautéed peppers and onions. Stir in the drained tortellini and mix well to combine and heat through for 2 minutes.
  5. Add Cheese and Melt: Layer the provolone cheese evenly over the top of the skillet mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and allow the cheese to melt over medium-low heat, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Serve: Once the cheese has melted, gently stir the mixture to incorporate the cheese into the dish. Serve warm for a delicious Philly Cheesesteak inspired pasta meal.

Notes

  • You can substitute provolone with mozzarella for a milder cheese taste.
  • For extra flavor, consider adding garlic while sautéing the vegetables.
  • If you prefer a saucier dish, add a splash of beef broth or cream before adding the provolone cheese.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated on the stovetop or microwave.
