Wonton Chips
- 1 Package Wonton Wrappers, cut into triangles (slice in half diagonally)
- Vegetable or Canola Oil for frying
Meat and Cheese
- 1 pound Ground Italian Pork Sausage
- 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- ½ cup Shredded Pepper Jack Cheese
- 1 cup Pepperoni slices
Toppings & Accompaniments
- Pepperoncini or Banana Peppers, sliced (about ½ cup)
- ½ cup Marinara Sauce for dipping
- Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground Italian pork sausage until fully browned and crumbly, about 8 minutes. Drain any excess fat and set the cooked sausage aside.
- Prepare Wonton Chips: Cut the wonton wrappers in half diagonally to create triangular chips. Heat vegetable or canola oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the wonton triangles in batches for about 2 minutes on each side or until golden and crispy. Remove them carefully and drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Assemble the Nachos: On a baking sheet, arrange a single layer of crispy wonton chips. Evenly distribute the cooked Italian sausage crumbles, pepperoni slices, and sliced pepperoncini peppers over the chips. Sprinkle the shredded pepper jack cheese over the toppings, followed by a generous layer of shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 375℉ (190℃). Place the baking sheet with assembled nachos into the oven and bake for approximately 5 minutes, or until the cheeses are fully melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Remove the nachos from the oven and serve immediately with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
Notes
- Be careful not to overcrowd the frying pan to ensure wonton chips fry evenly and crisp up well.
- For a spicier kick, add a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes over the nachos before baking.
- If desired, substitute Italian pork sausage with turkey sausage for a leaner option.
- Fresh pepperoncini peppers add a tangy flavor; adjust quantity based on your spice preference.
- These nachos are best enjoyed immediately to maintain crispiness of the wonton chips.
