Scale

Rolls and Filling

  • 1 pkg. King’s Hawaiian Rolls, original (12 count)
  • 1/2 cup butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon

Icing

  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbs. butter (melted)
  • 1/8 tsp. kosher salt
  • 12 Tbs. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Make the Cinnamon Rolls: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Slice the sheet of Hawaiian rolls in half, separating the top from the bottom.
  2. Prepare the Base: Place the bottom half of the Hawaiian rolls into a greased 9×13 baking pan. Spread 1/4 cup of the softened butter evenly over the bottom rolls.
  3. Add the Cinnamon Sugar: In a bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together. Sprinkle about two-thirds of this mixture evenly over the buttered rolls in the pan.
  4. Top Layer: Place the top half of the Hawaiian rolls over the cinnamon sugar layer. Spread the remaining 1/4 cup softened butter over the top rolls, then sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture over them.
  5. Bake: Bake uncovered for 15 minutes or until the rolls are hot throughout and bubbly on top.
  6. Make the Icing: While the rolls bake, combine powdered sugar, melted butter, kosher salt, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Add milk slowly, one tablespoon at a time, until the icing reaches a pourable consistency.
  7. Drizzle the Icing: Warm the icing slightly in the microwave for a few seconds to loosen. Slowly drizzle the icing over the warm cinnamon rolls.
  8. Serve: Enjoy the cinnamon rolls warm, fresh from the oven. They pair wonderfully with coffee or a cold glass of milk.

Notes

  • Ensure the butter is softened for easy spreading on the rolls.
  • The cinnamon sugar mixture can be adjusted to your taste preference.
  • Warm the icing slightly for a smoother drizzle over the rolls.
  • Use a greased pan to prevent sticking and ease cleanup.
  • Serve immediately for best flavor and texture, as the rolls are best enjoyed warm.
