Ground Beef Mixture
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 1/3 cup thinly sliced green onions
- 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sriracha (optional)
Brussels Sprouts
- 1 tablespoon avocado oil
- 1 pound shredded Brussels sprouts
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Sauce and Garnish
- 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce
- Juice of 1/2 lime
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
- Cook the ground beef: Add the ground beef to a large skillet and crumble it. Stir in the green onions and season with kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, garlic powder, sriracha (if using), and soy sauce. Cook over medium heat until the beef is fully cooked through. Once done, remove the beef mixture from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
- Sauté the Brussels sprouts: In the same skillet, add one tablespoon of avocado oil. Toss in the shredded Brussels sprouts, season with salt and pepper, and sauté over medium heat until they become soft and caramelized, developing a rich flavor and golden color.
- Combine and sauce: Return the cooked ground beef mixture to the skillet with the Brussels sprouts. Pour in the sweet chili sauce and lime juice. Stir everything together thoroughly until the beef and Brussels sprouts are evenly coated with the sauce and heated through.
- Garnish and serve: Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top if desired. Serve this dish warm over rice or your preferred base, enjoying the blend of savory, sweet, and tangy flavors in every bite.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, increase the amount of sriracha or add red pepper flakes.
- If shredded Brussels sprouts are not available, finely chopped Brussels sprouts work well too.
- This dish pairs wonderfully with steamed jasmine or brown rice but can also be served over quinoa or cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.
- Use avocado oil or another high smoke point oil to prevent burning during sautéing.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated on the stovetop or microwave.
