Ingredients

Scale

Fruit

  • 2 medium ripe bananas

Spread

  • 4 tbsp peanut butter

Chocolate Topping

  • 4 to 5 tbsp dark chocolate, melted
  • ¼ tsp coconut oil

Garnish

  • 3 tbsp chopped peanuts
  • Sea salt, a pinch

Instructions

  1. Prepare Bananas: Peel the bananas and cut each in half lengthwise. Then cut each half into two pieces, yielding a total of 8 banana slices. Arrange the slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Apply Peanut Butter and Toppings: Spread peanut butter evenly over each banana slice, ensuring full coverage. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt and chopped peanuts on top of the peanut butter layer.
  3. Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate pieces and coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
  4. Drizzle Chocolate and Freeze: Drizzle the melted chocolate over each peanut butter-covered banana slice. Place the baking sheet in the freezer and freeze for at least 1 hour or until the chocolate has hardened completely.

Notes

  • Use dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa for a richer flavor and less sugar.
  • For a nut-free version, substitute peanut butter with sunflower seed butter and omit peanuts.
  • Store the frozen treats in an airtight container in the freezer for up to one week.
  • If you do not have a microwave, melt the chocolate and coconut oil using a double boiler on the stovetop.
